B&B Goes Digital to Boost Efficiency

Valencia, CA July 20, 2011: B&B Manufacturing, a world-class provider of manufacturing solutions to the aerospace, military and automotive industries, has taken a major step in improving its overall operational efficiency. In its on-going efforts to reduce costs and drive out waste, B&B is creating a visual workplace that provides for the most efficient dissemination and collection of information. Known as Key Process Indicators--or KPIs for short--the innovative display systems provide fast, accurate snapshots of company operations. The new system features touch screens for employees, a supplier portal for suppliers, and KPIs for management.

"These KPIs are powerful tools that can be readily used by management and our employees," observed B&B Vice President VP Jeff Lage. "As an example, we now have a screen that shows the labor ratio for each manufacturing cell and whether or not it is trending up or down," added Lage.

Lage also noted that KPIs will add new levels of efficiency to order processing. "Management will now be able to access a screen that shows open purchase orders that are due that day or past due," said Lage. "This helps prioritize incoming orders." The new KPIs even offer a glimpse of sales trends. "In terms of sales analytics, KPIs will provide management with a screen that shows sales and trends that are booked," added Lage.

B&B Manufacturing is a leading provider of machined components, sub-assemblies and contract manufacturing services, serving Aerospace, Semi-Conductor, Automotive Racing, and General Aviation markets. B&B employs over 210 people in the Valencia, CA facility just 35 miles north of Los Angeles off Interstate 5.
